Jim Coe

Bel Aire resident and former El Dorado resident James “Jim” Coe, died Saturday at his home with his family by his side.

Jim was born on February 20, 1956 in Wichita, KS, the son of Andrew J. and Della Coe. He grew up in Marion, and graduated there with the class of 1974.

On Dec. 30, 1977, Jim was united in marriage to Gail Stotts at the Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion. They raised their children, Holly and Andrew, in El Dorado before moving to Bel Aire.

Jim worked for the State of Kansas and in 1978 started work for Kansas Gas Service, which is now ONE Gas. He retired after working 39 years, the later years as a senior technical analyst in the engineering department.

In his spare time, Jim enjoyed camping, vacationing, traveling, and Bigfoot related activities.

He was always involved in church and enjoyed working in the media department, both behind the camera and in the director’s chair.

He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed building furniture for Gail.

His most special time was spent with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bruce Coe.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gail; his children, Holly Timmermeyer and husband Brent of Bel Aire, and Andrew Coe of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren Henry James and AriAnna Timmermeyer; siblings Becky Cameron and husband Gary, of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Cathy Patterson and husband, Bill, of Berryton, and George Coe and wife Wanda, of Wichita; sisters-in-law Jan Coe, and Jayma Harbour and husband Rick; brother-in-law Jeff Stotts; mother-in-law Beverly Stotts; nieces Chris Coe and Kathy Coe; and nephews Rick Harbour, Ryan Harbour, and Chad Stiller.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Church in Wichita.

Memorial donations can be sent to Christ Church for the “Greatest Gift” outreach ministry.
