Jim Gervais

James “Jim” L. Gervais, 72, of Peabody, died Dec. 13 in Hesston.

Born Jan. 7, 1944, to Edward and Margaret (Ahrens) Gervais in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was a retired cement worker with Pre-Stress Concrete Company. He also worked as a crane operator and night watchman with Pre-Stress Concrete, as well as a press operator at Hesston Corp. He operated Jim’s Farmers Market in Wichita for many years. He was an angler, hunter, and gardener.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Gervais, and a stepdaughter, Deborah Ann Honaker.

He is survived by his wife, Verna Gervais; children, Fawn Florez, Irene Knauf, and Jeannie Gervais; brothers, Larry Gervais and Johnny Bond; sisters, Anne Bryant, Margaret Jarrett, and Mary Pratt; adopted brother, Robert Ty Dean; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Family received friends Friday at Petersen Funeral Home.

A memorial has been established for Aulne United Methodist Church in Aulne.
