Joan Meyer

Services for Record vice president, associate publisher, and columnist Joan Wight Meyer, 98, who died Saturday at her home in Marion, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Valley United Methodist Church in Marion.

Pastor Ron DeVore will officiate. Interment will be at Marion Cemetery. Relatives will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.

She was born May 23, 1925, in Marion to Ollie and Mercil (Thompson) Wight and married Bill Meyer on Sept. 11, 1949, in Marion.

Survivors include son Eric Meyer of Marion and grandson Nathaniel Meyer Gleason along with his wife, Elizabeth, and great-grandchildren Henry, Margaret, and Josephine of Livermore, California. Her husband, Bill Meyer, and brother, Roland Wight, preceded her in death.

A memorial has been established with Kansas Newspaper Foundation, 4021 SW 10th St, Suite 351, Topeka KS 66604.
