John M. Blasenhauer Sr., 70, of Herington died Nov. 29, 2011, at the Medicalodges of Herington.
He was born April 11, 1941, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Victor and Ina Blasenhauer.
He was a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service for many years. He was also a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a strategic microwave system repairman.
He married Genevieve Marion (Demerest) Cronk on March 17, 1976, in Baltimore, Md. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by a son, John Blasenhauer Jr., of Salina; two stepsons, Larry Cronk of Herington and Martin Cronk of Boonton, N.J.; four stepdaughters , Lucille Cronk of Welaka, Fla.; Jenny Cronk of Phillipsburg, N.J.; Helen Cronk of Boonton, N.J.; and Debbie Chisam of Katy, Texas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two stepsons, Art Cronk Sr. and Kenny Cronk; and his parents.
A memorial service was Saturday at New Life Church of God in Herington with Pastor Lorenzo Jackson officiating. He was buried afterward with military honors.
