John Fredrickson

Services will be scheduled later for John Fredrickson, 81, who died Jan. 29 at St. Luke Hospital.

Born March 23, 1943, in Chippewa Falls Wisconsin, to Robert and Lucille (Hurt) Fredrickson, he graduated in 1961 from Hawthorne High School in California.

He enlisted into the Army, was discharged four years later, and married Dorothy Will of Herington on Dec. 31, 1964.

He worked as a machinist in California for Hughes Aircraft. In 1969, he moved to Kansas and worked for Mack-Welling Lumber for 10 years. He then worked in maintenance for the Army Corps of Engineers for 30 years before retiring.

Survivors include sons Marty Fredrickson of Marion and Mike Fredrickson of Bolivar, Missouri; daughter Margo Fredrickson of Marion; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

His wife, brother Gary Fredrickson, and sister Lea Fredrickson preceded him in death.

A memorial has been established with Marion County Food Bank.
