John Polok

Funeral Mass for John H. Polok, 88, Hope, who passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at his home, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at St. Phillip’s Catholic Church in Hope.

His family will gather with friends at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, for Rosary prayers at the St. Phillips Catholic Hall in Hope. Visitation will follow from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the hall.

After the Mass, he will be laid to rest in St. Phillips Catholic Cemetery.

John’s life began on Sept. 26, 1935, outside of Hope on a farm located on the southeast corner of Oat Rd. and 500 Ave.

His parents were Valentine “Wally” and Emma Magdalen (Schumer) Polok.

He attended Tennessee School in the country and later attended Hope High School, graduating in the Class of 1953.

John was united in marriage to Anna Pauline Montgomery on Sept. 17, 1971, at the Church of the Magdalen in Wichita.

He was a member of St. Phillips Church in Hope. Most important, John was a hardworking, faithful family man.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline, of Hope; son Neil (and wife Kylee) Polok of Hope; daughter Regina Polok of Fairway; grandchildren Sophie, Ava, and Macy of Hope; sister-in-law Vivian Montgomery of Wichita; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Clarence Polok, Theresa Klenda, Margaret Gable, and Vince Polok; and his siblings’ spouses, Shirley, Maxine, Leonard Klenda, Art Gable, Irene, and Patty.

Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington is serving the family.

Memorial contributions in John’s name may be directed to the St. Phillip’s Cemetery Fund or Dickinson County Home Health and Hospice.
