John A. Spachek, 95, died Oct. 26, 2008, at St. Luke Living Center, Marion.
Born March 25, 1913, near Norton, he was the son of Thomas W. and Anna (Shindler) Spachek.
His mother died when John was a young child and his father later remarried Mary Neuwirth.
John attended Pilsen Grade School and graduated from Marion High School in 1930.
He assisted in managing and operating Pilsen State Bank of Lincolnville, which his father had founded.
On Sept. 20, 1937, he married Beatrice Stika at Pilsen.
He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant son, William Charles; a sister, Almena Rogers; and half-siblings, Leonard Spachek, Lucille Britain, Pauline Schimpf, and Victor Spachek.
Survivors include his children, Barbara and Ron Myers of Eureka, Robert and Helen Spachek of Marion, Donna and Larry Erpelding of Manhattan, Carole Richards of Southampton, N.J., and Gregory and Donna Spachek of Wichita; half-siblings, Genevieve Steiner of Wichita and Andrew Spachek of San Antonio, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends beginning 6:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) until the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Parish, St. John Nepomucene Church, Pilsen.
Burial will be at Pilsen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Father Kapaun Guild and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospital in care of the funeral home.
