John Svoboda

Former Ramona resident John A. Svoboda, 77, of Dighton died Jan. 14 at Valley View Senior Living Center in Junction City.

A Rosary at 10 a.m. Thursday will precede Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. Inurnment will be in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Cemetery.

He was born June 22, 1937, in Lincolnville to Frank and Christina (Reznicek) Svoboda. He graduated from Lincolnville High School in 1955, and married Mary L. Weber on June 7, 1962.

He worked for the Marion County Road and Bridge department until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen.

His parents, a sister, Geraldine, and brothers Gerald, Theodore, Jimmy, and Lawrence preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Annette Wilson of Seneca, Jane Benz of Bennett, Colorado, Cheryl Wilson of Walla Walla, Washington, and Clare Curtis of Panama City, Florida; son, Tom Svoboda of Herington; sister, JoAnn Nowak of Pilsen; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials are requested for the Father Emil Kapuan Memorial Fund.
