MARION — Julie Ann Boydston, 92, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro, Kan.

She was born July 6, 1920, to Harry and Esther (Jensen) Jean in Black Hawk County, Iowa, and grew up in Waterloo, Iowa. She married Glenn L. Boydston on Dec. 29, 1944, in Topeka. They lived their early married life in Iowa, and later moved to a farm near Valley Falls, Kan. There they raised their two children, Harry and Glenna.

After retirement, they moved to Caldwell, Kan., then to Mountain Home, Ark., and then back to Valley Falls. After Glenn’s death in 1999, Julie moved to Olathe, and then later to Marion, to the September Apartments.

She was a stay-at-home mom, loved gardening and canning, and always enjoyed relatives stopping by. Their home was the site of many family reunions. She was active and very supportive of her kid’s lives in all their school activities. She was a wonderful cook — especially of wild game. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to fish, read, do crossword puzzles, play pitch, and watch K-State ballgames.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Harry L. Boydston and his wife Karen of Louisburg; a daughter, Glenna Jean Newkirk and husband Jim of Marion; a sister-in-law, Mary Irwin of Bedford, Texas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

There will be a family memorial service at a later date.
