Kathleen Oborny

Funeral Mass for Kathleen A. (Steiner) Oborny, 88, who died Friday at St. Luke Living Center in Marion, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen.

Visitation will begin at 6 tonight, followed by a prayer vigil at 7. Interment will be at Pilsen Cemetery.

Born Nov. 4, 1937, near Durham to Ralph and Anne (Reznicek) Steiner, she married George Oborny, whom she met at a Pilsen polka, April 14, 1956, in Tampa.

She farmed alongside him, running a combine, tractor and grain truck, and helping with hogs and cattle.

The couple raised chickens, and she made weekly deliveries to egg customers and food stores.

She was a member of Holy Family Parish and St. Anne Altar Society, taught catechism, and was a Centre school board member.

Survivors include sons Dennis Oborny of Salina and David Oborny of Marion; daughters Julie Klenda of Lincolnville, Jeannie Blue of Gardner, and Jennifer Marshall of Blackwater, Missouri; sisters Joyce Buckley of Marion, Barbara Rodriguez of Wichita, Veronica Base of Smolan, and Margaret Bailey of Tacoma, Washington; brother Ralph Steiner of Eudora; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

Her husband, son George Donald, and brother Francis Steiner preceded her in death.

Memorials have been established with Father Kapaun Legacy Fund and St Luke Living Center.
