Keith Kelsey turning 85

Keith Kelsey of Newton, formerly of Marion, will turn 85 on Nov. 17, and his family requests a card shower.

He was born Nov. 17, 1927, in rural Marion County to Earl and Blanche Kelsey. He graduated Marion High School in 1945 and served in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, he attended Washburn University in Topeka.

He worked as Marion City Clerk, following Leta Rees. He later worked as a cashier at Farmers and Drovers Bank in Marion. He also worked as a State Farm Insurance agent in Marion, before being transferred to Emporia. After a time in Emporia, he accepted an administrative position with the Boy Scouts of America, a job he retained until retirement.

He first married Joan Herzet, and after her death he later married a former classmate, Clara Grimes Adams. Both spouses have predeceased him.
