Kenneth Schmidt

Kenneth W. Schmidt, 79, died April 22 at his home in Newton. He was born Oct. 14, 1934, to Henry B. Jr. and Esther (Klassen) Schmidt in Newton.

He married Elsie Flamming on May 6, 1960, in Goessel.

He was a registered nurse for Prairie View in Newton. He was also a member of Tabor Mennonite Church and New Creation Fellowship.

He is survived by two daughters, Loretta Schmidt and Karen Schmidt, both of Greeley, Colo.; a brother, Linford Schmidt of Omaha, Neb.; and two grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother, Alfred M. Schmidt.

Funeral services were Saturday at Tabor Mennonite Church, rural Newton. Burial followed in Tabor Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation was Friday at Miller-Ott Funeral Home in Goessel.

A memorial fund has been established with New Creation Pre-school.
