Kevin L. Hoffer

MARION — Kevin L. Hoffer, 61, passed away March 24, 2013, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion. He was born June 27, 1951, in Newton, the son of Leonard and Lois (Adams) Hoffer.

After high school graduation, he proudly served his country with the United States Navy, serving on the USS Francis Hammond during the Vietnam Conflict.

He was a licensed electrician, working more than 30 years through the IBEW No. 271 Union of Wichita. He later worked for Hostess of Emporia until its close.

On Jan. 1, 1976, he was united in marriage to Vicki Helfer. They were blessed with a daughter, Shannon. In the mid-80s they made their home at Marion County Lake.

Kevin was a member and current commander of American Legion Post 22, was very active in the Patriot Guard, and worked as the football announcer for 15 years with WTVN. His family, friends, and all veterans were very important to him.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Vicki Hoffer of Marion; his daughter, Shannon Hoffer of New Haven, Conn.; and brothers, Bruce Hoffer and wife Carol of Newton and Gary Hoffer and wife Katherine of Alameda, Calif.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 6:30 p.m., on Thursday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion. Interment with military rites will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.

Memorial funds have been established for American Legion Post 22, the Marion High School football program, and the Marion County Lake Improvement Fund in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion KS 66861.
