Krause breaks Warrior record

Dylan Kraus set a new Marion school record in the 400 meter run, taking first place at Beloit Relays on Friday. Taryn Kraus placed third in the 300 hurdles.
Both Krauses, along with Erin Regnier and Brylee Smith, placed second in the 400 relay.
Taryn Kraus, Smith, Kenna Wesner, and Caileigh Johnson placed second in the 100 relay as well.
“We got a good glimpse of what we will do for league, regional, and state meets at Beloit and we had a good day,” coach Grant Thierolf said.
Luke Wessel led the boys with a first-place finish in the 800 and a fourth-place finish in the 3200.
Wessel, Sam Loomis, Jesse Snyder, and Wyatt Soyez grabbed second in the 400 relay. Brian Nguyen won bronze in discus.
Marion track and field will head to Remington on Friday for their next invitational.
Hillsboro
The Trojans took sixth out of 18 as a team Thursday at the James Thomas Invitational in Hillsboro.
Addison Jost placed second in the 800 while Riley Richert placed second in the 1,600. Quinlyn Funk placed third in the 3,200.
The girls 800 relay team —Richert, Jost, Funk, and Jaidyn Frantz — took first place.
Emily Gilkey placed second in the high jump, and Abbigail Williams placed second in shot put.
On the boys’ side, Jesiah Gooch placed fourth in the 200. Gooch, Aaron Hein, Peter Farha, and Preston D’Albini placed third in the 100 relay. Anders Weisbeck placed second in discus.
The Trojans will continue their season Thursday in Hesston.
Centre
Centre will travel to Herington on Thursday after a week off.
Goessel
Goessel track and field competed in Tescott on Tuesday and will be at the WSL League event in Herington this Monday.
Peabody-Burns
Peabody-Burns did not attend an invitational Thursday in Herington but they may attend Solomon’s event Thursday.
