When county Planning and Zoning Director Tonya Richards and developer Garry Dunnegan showed commissioners a new draft of a plat for Saddle Creek Estates at the county lake, only one adjustment needed to be made.
After discussing different roads in the plat, commissioners requested a specification that a road not be built over a 40-foot easement in the back row of houses. Commissioner Dan Holub said the easement looks like a road, but will not be used as one.
Dunnegan said four of the 10 lots in the subdivision have already been sold, and he does not see there being a need for much marketing once everything is finalized.
“I think once this is cleaned up, it will be a nice addition to the lake,” he said.
Road and bridge keeping busy
Superintendent Randy Crawford notified commissioners the road and bridge department will put down a chip seal for Remington Rd. from Pilsen up to U.S. 56.
Commissioners also approved the department to spend $189,947 for three miles of a double chip seal and four miles of a single chip seal on 340th Rd. from Quail Creek Rd. to Morris County.
Road and bridge also was allowed to purchase a $90,000 2008 Kenworth dump truck and hire Brett Haws to work in the Pilsen area as a grader at $2,179 a month.
In other business:
- Commissioners approved a $17,300 bid from D&L Enterprises to use new pipe and materials for a fence project at the north end of the lake at beach cove. The county will pay a third of the price as a down payment to get the project started.
- After meeting with Transfer Station Director Rollin Schmidt for a five-minute closed session for personnel, commissioners approved Schmidt to hire a part-time worker to work at the station on Friday and Saturday mornings. A bin will be available for use for trash or recycling on the east side of the transfer station on weekends.
- Clerk Tina Spencer sent a countywide e-mail inviting citizens to participate in a county community service day April 25.
- Commissioners met for 10 minutes in a closed session discussing personnel. No action was taken upon return to open session.
