Marion Elementary School fifth-grader Luke Lanning won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee on Friday.
The school-level Bee, at which students answered oral questions on geography, was the first round in the 25th annual National Geography Bee. Skylar Creed, fifth grade, was runner-up with Larry Zieammermann, sixth grade, took third place.
Other MES students taking the written exam for the state-level competition are fourth-graders Chisholm Waner, Jayden Spencer, Mackenzie Eden, and Skylar King; fifth-graders Hunter Helmer and Mistie Larsen; and sixth-graders Charlie Nordquist, Kimmie Duncan, and Christian Becker.
