Larry Stewart

Marion High School alumnus Larry D. Stewart, 72, died Thursday at his home in rural Maple Hill.

A funeral service was Monday morning followed by interment at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Stewart was born Feb. 6, 1943, the son of Donald and Maxine (Cooper) Stewart. He grew up in Leavenworth and Galveston, Texas, as well as Marion communities.

He graduated from Marion High School in 1962, after which he served in the United States Air Force and married Debbie Finke on Feb. 27, 1971, in Marion.

Stewart worked in management for South Western Bell in Newton and Topeka for many years. He was a resident of the Maple Hill community for over 30 years.

His wife survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Cody of Maple Hill; a daughter, Dawn Schiffner of Abilene; and three grandsons.
