LaVern Jacob Miller, 88, of Hillsboro, died Nov. 20, 2011. at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita.

Miller was born July 29, 1923 in rural Durham to John and Hannah (Hein) Miller.

He married Margaret Eck of Durham on June 9, 1946. She preceded him in death in 2000. A sister, Virginia Crause also preceded him in death.

Miller is survived by two sons, Marlin of Wichita and Norman of Newton; two daughters, Ruth Ann Monares of Newton and Marlene Herzet of Hillsboro; a brother, Floyd of Hillsboro; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A service will be held 10 a.m. today at Durham Baptist Church. Pastor Curtis Wiens will officiate. Visitation was Tuesday at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A memorial fund has been established through Durham Baptist Church or Salem Home.
