“Let my people go”

To the editor:

Did anyone take notice of the headline last week about the county commission meeting? Can we just ignore it? How much more revealing can it get than to read of government at work? Maybe by this continuous infighting we will be set free to live our lives without them interfering.

How have three commissioners, soon to be five, benefited us? What are they discussing? How to cover the $50,000 cost, and they have no idea how it’s going to work out.

One good thing is that the county economic development corporation is in question. How much was spent on that?

What makes a community thrive? People who are free. Are we not a nation built on the idea that all men are created equal and with inalienable rights? It was Abraham Lincoln’s concern in his Gettysburg address, “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Have we voted for more government at the expense of personal freedom?
