To the editor:
The American Legion Auxiliary is an organization with nearly one million women across the country. It is the largest women’s patriotic service organization in the nation, devoted to American veterans, young people, and communities.
Last year alone, auxiliary members dedicated more than 2.1 million volunteer hours to community service.
The local organization, Unit 22, is seeking women of all ages who share the vision of service not self.
Women may join the American Legion Auxiliary if they are a mother, wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, or great-great-granddaughter of a veteran of World War I or II or Korean, Vietnam, Lebanon/Grenada, Panama, Persian Gulf, Operation Iraqi Freedom, or Operation Enduring Freedom wars and conflicts. Eligibility also applies to step and adopted relatives. Females who served in these conflicts may join in their own right.
The next meeting will be 7 p.m. March 14 at the post home, 424 E. Main St., Marion.
