Deer not so dear

To the editor:

I am more than 90 and a vegetarian because I do not want animals killed, but we must eliminate every deer in the entire country.

We haven’t always had deer. My schoolteacher parents taught and coached across the state, and we didn’t have deer then. Although we have many, and they are increasing, states north and east of us have more than we do.

We cannot afford deer. Five people were killed, and 674 injured in Kansas last year. Many more were killed in other states. How long will we suffer before we take action? We have no choice.
