Praise for dirty job

To the editor:

Last Saturday, the pump in the sewage lift pit in my neighborhood failed.

City employees Frank Werner, Landon Pederson, and Jeff Harper spent several hours replacing the pump — a vile and strenuous task.

I doubt that they received any thanks as most of my neighbors were probably unaware of the situation.

However, if the problem had not been promptly resolved, we all would have been acutely aware of it.

While most of us were enjoying a leisurely Labor Day weekend, these men were demonstrating why we celebrate it in the first place. Thank you.
