School ‘grades’
To the editor:
Last week there was an article, “County schools’ question low grades,” and well they should.
Kansas Policy Institute is a political organization funded by the Koch brothers. One of KPI’s primary goals is for the Kansas Legislature to allow vouchers for private schools.
By downgrading public schools, they hope to make the argument for vouchers, which is another way of saying taxpayer money going to the wealthy few who can afford to send their children to private schools — schools that are exempt from Kansas law guaranteeing equal access to education for all.
We should be proud of our local schools and support them any way we can.
