To the editor:
The first Marion Art and Music Stroll was a “real hit” in the community, but hardly recognized by our newspaper.
This time I am going to personally thank Jan and Jim Davis, Jeanice Thomas, Teresa Huffman, and Larry and Donna for the hard work and inspiration you’ve brought to reality, for the community.
Gallery 101 and these leaders have shown our community shares in many different art forms, music, and at least six well-organized antique shops to browse.
Marion County Record did not promote the event adequately again. Can you now pass our appreciation on to everyone who was a part of the October Marion Art and Music Stroll? We are looking forward to the Dec. 11 Christmas Stroll.
1724 190th St., Marion
Editor’s note: We published a lengthy preview story and a detailed listing for the event in our Marion County Tourism section, which was included in the Sept. 14 paper and which we made available free to thousands of participants at Art in the Park, Old Settlers’ Day, and Hillsboro’s Arts and Crafts Fair. We also planned prominent follow-up coverage for this week’s paper. Although they advertised the event in other publications, the sponsors chose not to purchase advertising for the event in their hometown newspaper.
