LETTERS: What's the worst that could happen?

To the editor:

Boy, were our ancestors lucky when they came to Marion County.

If they came now, we wouldn’t let them cross on the Santa Fe Trail because their covered wagons would leave ruts in the land. Oh, and we would probably say “no” to the railroad because trains make too much noise.

And let’s not forget that the state crisscrossed the county with highways 50, 56, 77, and 150 with all that horrible traffic and such.

Now we have a group of young people who want to return, make an improvement to our county lake (which belongs to the residents of Marion County), and pay taxes. And we are doing our best to run them off. How can just a few cabins raise such a controversy here?

People, wake up! Progress, even though it is change, is good. Or maybe we should just build a fence around Marion County to keep it out completely.

Remember, if you do what you always did, you get what you always got.
