LETTERS: You should have been there

To The Editor:

I went to the meeting Thursday evening at the Marion County Lake hall about the fishing report and zebra mussels status.

Yes, we have them.

I was surprised, if not shocked, at the lack of attendance. The presenters were very informative and passionate about what they do.

It was hard for me to listen how these zebra mussels will affect the whole Neosho River valley in a bad way.

Starting just in the Marion County area, the financial cost to just keep drinking water flowing is an issue in itself.

We all know it’s a money issue — as always.

Come on fellow water drinkers, recreation enthusiasts, fishermen, shore walkers, and anyone with concerns, let’s elect some politicians who care and divert some of that government money our way to help the whole Neosho Valley ecology system.

The mussels stop here! It’s the earliest detection of zebra mussels ever.

All it takes is attitude. It’s election time, we want and deserve clean water for our future generations. Let’s do something.

Kansas Wildlife and Parks Department people did a great job. I hope they come to speak again. You should be there.
