Loris Habegger

Loris Habegger, 91, of Moundridge, died Sept. 30 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus, Wichita.

Born Jan. 9, 1918, in rural Berne, Ind., to Arman and Hilegunda (Sprunger) Habegger, he graduated from Monroe High School in 1935. He was a member of First Mennonite Church of Berne.

He married Evelyn Regier on Aug. 9, 1945. The couple lived in North Newton.

He served as pastor of numerous Mennonite churches, including internships at Trinity Mennonite Church and Goessel Mennonite Church, and as pastoring Zion Mennonite Church in Elbing.

Loris was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Evelyn.

Survivors include two sons, Arman of Pandora, Ohio, and Richard of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a daughter, Lorna Harder of Hesston; a sister, Helen Habegger of Berne; five grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel College Mennonite Church.

Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton.
