Loss ends season for Warriors softball

Girls end up with 12-8 season record

Staff writer

The Marion softball team played its final game of the season Monday in Ottawa, losing 7-4 to Lebo/Waverly and being eliminated from regional playoffs.

Lebo/Waverly jumped out with an early lead, and Marion wasn’t able to overcome the deficit.

Marion finished the season above .500 with a final record of 12 victories and 8 losses.

“I’m very proud of how hard the girls worked all season,” coach Judy Noller said. “They battled every game and always gave their best effort.”

Three athletes — Calli Burkholder, Carley Wilhelm, and Natalie Hoffner — will not be returning next year because of graduation.

“They will truly be missed, and I thank them for all their work the past four seasons,” Noller said.

This week, league coaches will be choosing all-league teams.

Hillsboro softball beats Whitewater/Remington Tuesday 10-8.
