Lost Springs post office burglarized
A burglary and theft occurred sometime between 5 p.m. Oct. 26 and 9:15 a.m. Oct 27 at the U.S. Post Office in Lost Springs.
Postal inspector Paul Shade of Kansas City said the burgler got access by breaking through a boarded up window inside the post office.
According to the sheriff’s report, the window was worth $50, and equipment totaling $3,000 was stolen.
Postmaster Lori Kelsey said the lobby has been open during regular hours but closed during off hours while they work to make sure everything is secure.
Kelsey put to rest rumors that the post office may close.
“We are not shutting it down,” she said.
The post office is open from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. weekdays.
