Lula Classen

Lula F. Classen, 87, died Oct. 22, at Kidron Bethel, North Newton.

Born July 28, 1922, in Fairview, Okla., to Jacob P. and Anna (Salaska) Nickel, she graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1941. She attended Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita.

She married Samuel H. Classen of Meade on March 9, 1944, at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, rural Hillsboro.

She was a homemaker and helped her husband in the Shaklee business. She was a member of Koerner Heights Mennonite Brethren Church, Newton.

Lula’s parents; her husband, Sam; a great-granddaughter; and a brother-in-law preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Ray of North Newton, Mark of Buhler, and Luke of San Antonio, Texas; a daughter, Bev Willems of Newton; a sister, Jeri Schmidt; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services were Tuesday at Koerner Heights Mennonite Brethren Church.

Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials have been established with Kansas Child Evangelism Fellowship and Union Rescue Mission in Wichita and may be sent in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E Broadway St, Newton KS 67114.
