Madonna Hedgecock

Madonna Annette Hedgecock, 43, formerly of Marion, passed away at Truman Medical Center April 3, 2009.

She was born to Victor and Madonna (Esparza) Schafers April 17, 1965. She graduated from Emporia High School and attended Emporia State University.

On July 5, 1985, she married Brian Hedgecock at Emporia. She was an associate at Home Depot.

She was active in the United Methodist Church, Kairos Torch, a youth prison ministry, Walk to Emmaus, VFW auxiliary, and disciple Bible study. She enjoyed fishing, working puzzles, reading, and singing.

She was preceded in death by her father, Victor Schafers; siblings, Herman and Geraldine Schafers; and her loving in-laws, Leland and Geraldine Hedgecock.

She is survived by her husband Brian of Kansas City, Mo.; her mother, Madonna Schafers of Emporia; her brothers, Vic and Claire Schafers of Wichita and Chris of Emporia; her sisters, Deborah and Alfredo Cisneros of Dow City, Iowa, Helena and Jim Frizell of Indianola, Iowa, Teri and Ron Williams and Tina and Bobby Hulett of Emporia, and Mary and Bob Raleigh of Marion.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Valley United Methodist Church, Marion. Family will greet friends and neighbors from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

Burial will be in Marion Cemetery.

A memorial service is at 11 a.m. April 25 at Central United Methodist Church in Kansas City.

A memorial fund has been established with Central UMC music ministries.

Zeiner Funeral Home of Marion has been entrusted with services.
