Magic show to highlight Florence Labor Day Celebration

Staff writer

This year’s Florence Labor Day celebration will feature a magic show and water balloon volleyball.

Glenda and Mike’s Mysteries and Wonders Show, a popular event at the Kansas State Fair, will highlight Saturday night’s events. The show, which features magic and ventriloquism, starts at 7 p.m. Sept. 3.

A street dance will follow the show at 8:30 p.m. Music will be provided by the Matt Engels band.

Water balloon volleyball matches will be held at 3 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Florence ball field, 9th and Barker Sts. Teams of 4 will attempt to pass a water balloon back and forth over the net.

Howe House Griffins will face off against The Harvey Boys in the annual 1860’s vintage baseball game. A watermelon seed spitting contest and fireworks will follow the game.

A $5 button is required for admission and participation in games.
