Amy Boudreaux said she never expected to be working with senior citizens. As the new activities director for Marion Assisted Living she will be planning events for them.
Boudreaux was hired by Marion Assisted earlier this summer as a kitchen worker, but she said when the position came open she thought she would be a good fit.
She said this is her first week working on her own. Boudreaux spent last week training with former activities director Cynthia Barrett.
“My first projects were craft projects,” she said. “I want to get students from local schools and local groups to come in and interact with the seniors. They really like that.”
Boudreaux said she realized her love for working with the elderly as owner of The Big Scoop.
“We had several regulars who would come in and they were really fun,” she said.
