Marion boys lift their way to 9th
The Marion High School boys powerlifting team finished ninth out of 24 teams that participated in the 3A Kansas State Powerlifting Championships Saturday in Marion.
Eric Regnier finished sixth in the 114-pound weight class with a squat of 175 pounds, a bench press of 100 pounds, and a clean and jerk of 130 pounds.
Randy Regnier finished second at 123 with a squat of 265, a bench press of 185, and a clean of 180.
Drew Maddox finished seventh at 148 with a squat of 250, a bench press of 185, and a clean of 205.
Four Marion lifters participated at 156: Colten Johnson, Dillon Richmond, Wiley Lundy, and Ethan Hett. Johnson finished seventh, squatting 315, benching 185, and clean and jerking 225. Richmond finished 12th, squatting 255, benching 165, and clean and jerking 225. Lundy finished 20th, squatting 160, benching 110, and clean and jerking 130. Hett finished 21st, squatting 145, benching 100, and clean and jerking 135.
Matt Sprowls, Jordan Versch, and Les Riggs competed in the 165-pound class. Sprowls finished fifth with a squat of 315, a bench of 230, and a clean of 245. Riggs finished seventh with a squat of 350, a bench of 175, and a clean of 225. Versch finished 12th with a squat of 255, a bench of 200, and a clean of 195.
Colten Olsen finished second at 172 with a squat of 350, a bench of 215, and a clean of 275.
Cody Carr finished 12th at 181 with a squat of 315, a bench of 175, and a clean of 205. Chance Reece of Hillsboro finished sixth with a squat of squat of 335, a bench of 275, and a clean of 210.
Spencer Fugitt and Jared Vondenkamp competed in the 198-pound class. Fugitt finished 12th with a squat of 295, a bench of 170, and a clean of 225. Vondenkamp finished 18th with a squat of 205, a bench press of 165, and a clean of 155.
Connor Thierolf, Dakin Ledford, and Isaac Baldwin competed in the 220-pound class. Thierolf finished 13th with a squat of 305, a bench of 185, and a clean of 225. Ledford finished 17th with a squat of 250, a bench of 165, and a clean of 225. Baldwin finished 19th with a squat of 245, a bench of 165, and a clean of 185.
Tim Costello finished ninth at 242 with a squat of 385, a bench of 185, and a clean of 250.
A girls division also competed on Saturday, but no Hillsboro or Marion girls participated.
