Officers of Marion/Florence FFA chapter participated Thursday in the South Central District FFA Leadership Conference at Buhler.
The conference consisted of three competitions in areas of parliamentary procedure, FFA information, and ritual.
Marion placed third in parliamentary procedure and FFA information, and eighth in the ritual contest.
Sam Ehrlich placed fifth individually in FFA information.
The chapter placed third overall at the conference out of 24 teams in the district.
Students competing in the parliamentary procedure contest were required to take a test about parliamentary procedure and perform a 10-minute demonstration of 10 parliamentary motions.
This demonstration had to reflect a meeting in progress, and participants found out which motions they had to demonstrate and their topic one minute before beginning the demonstration.
The FFA information contest consisted of a 100-question test on the FFA organization, officers, history, official functions, and current programs and awards.
Students in the ritual contest were required to perform the opening ceremony used at FFA meetings and official functions.
Students competing for Marion included Mark Kukuk, Brad Klenda, Ehrlich, Ryan Jones, Louis Holt, Eric Vogel, and Adam Cope.
Greenhand
The Marion/Florence FFA greenhand officer team placed second in the greenhand parliamentary procedure CDE and sixth in the greenhand opening ceremony ritual CDE at the conference.
Jessie Taylor was named to the greenhand master ritual team as best secretary.
