Marion High School class reunion activities

Class of ’54

The class of 1954 will be celebrating its 65th reunion.

Classmates will meet at 10 a.m. at the Elgin Hotel parking lot for parade lineup.

A dinner is planned for 5 p.m. at Dorothy’s Coffee House.

Class of ’59

The class of 1959 will be celebrating its 60th anniversary.

Classmates will meet at 6 p.m. Friday at Flint Hills Bakery in Florence.

They will eat breakfast Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Keith Conyers’ house and board the float for the ride through the parade.

They will eat lunch together in the park. No evening plans have been made.

Class of ’64

The class of 1964 will be celebrating its 55th anniversary.

Members will meet at 10 a.m. on Walnut St. to ride through the parade. They will gather at Central Park for alumni recognition at 2:30 p.m.

An evening dinner will be at 5 p.m. at St. Mark’s Fellowship Hall.

Class of ’69

The class of 1969 will be celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Members will sit together at the football game Friday evening.

Jan and Gerald Wiens will serve a 9 a.m. Saturday breakfast. The class will ride in the parade, have lunch in the park, and introduce themselves on the park stage.

They will meet at 4 p.m. at Marion Country Club, followed by a 5 p.m. dinner catered by Marissa Makovec.

Class of ’74

The class of 1974 will be celebrating its 45th anniversary.

Classmates will meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Digger O’Dell’s house on Lincoln St., across from the high school, to decorate and ride a trailer in the parade. Bring a lawn chair and candy.

Jeff and Kathy Inlow, 873 Bluestem Rd., Florence, will host a dinner. Go three miles south of the roundabout at Florence to 90th Rd., east three miles to Bluestem Rd., then south to Jeff’s house. Bring your drink and a lawn chair.

Class of ’79

The class of 1979 will be celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Classmates are invited to the SHED at 709 Nickerson St. for socializing from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday.

Friday afternoon and evening will be spent at Marion Country Club and the football game.

The class will ride through the 11 a.m. parade Saturday and stay in the park for class introductions at 2:30 p.m.

Saturday evening classmates will meet at Marion County Lake Hall for a 6 p.m. catered meal. Reservations are required and may be made by calling Casey at (620) 382-2106 or Brenda at (620) 382-2109 or on the MHS Class of 1979 social media page.

Class of ’84

The class of 1984 will be celebrating its 35th anniversary.

Classmates will decorate a float Friday evening and meet at Warrior Stadium for the football game.

After riding in the parade, they will participate in class recognition in Central Park in the afternoon, and have a meal and fellowship at the VFW in the evening.

A disc jockey will provide music for a dance from 9 to 12 p.m. Cost is $5.

Class of ’89

The class of 1989 will be celebrating its 30th anniversary.

Members will gather at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning at Ty and Charlotte Waner’s house at 705 S. Freeborn St. to ride the float to the parade lineup.

Those who want to join later can go to 1st and Walnut Sts. for directions to the float.

Lunch will be “on your own.”

The class will meet at the Waner home at 1:30 p.m. to visit and have drinks and snacks.

Martinelli’s Little Italy will provide a buffet-style catered dinner at Marion County Lake Hall. Class members will meet at 5:45 p.m. for appetizers and socializing, with dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Class of ’94

The class of 1994 will be celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Classmates plan to attend the football game. They will meet at The Cottage (former Garrett Varenhorst house west of city offices) in Marion and go to Coneburg Bar and Grill in Peabody. All classes are welcome.

The class will meet at The Cottage at 9 a.m. Saturday for the parade lineup.

Plans are being made for a disk golf game at Marion County Lake on Saturday afternoon.

A 5 p.m. dinner will be served at The Cottage by Coneburg Bar and Grill.

Class of ’99

The class of 1999 will celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Classmates will be tailgating Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Warrior Stadium prior to the football game. They plan to display an MHS 1999 banner at the game.

They will join an all-classes get together after the game at Marion Country Club or take in Willy J’s live band at the bowling alley for $6.

Classmates will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday along Walnut St. to board their float for the parade.

They will meet in Central Park at 2 p.m. for class recognition.

A 4 p.m. barbecue and potluck in the north shelter house at Marion County Lake is planned. At the intersection of Upland Rd. and Lakeshore Dr., continue straight into the cove and curve to the right to find it.

Parts of the reunion dinner will be catered but class members with first names beginning with A to L are asked to bring a side dish, and members with first names starting with M to Z are asked to bring dessert.

Class of 2004

The class of 2004 is celebrating its 15th anniversary.

Classmates will meet at the Friday night football game and do some tailgating. They will meet at Fuzzy’s Place in Florence after the game.

Classmates will meet at 1st St. by 10:30 a.m. to load their float and ride through the parade.

They will meet at the east shelter house at Marion County Lake at 4 p.m. for a potluck with their families.

Class of 2009

The class of 2009 will be celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Classmates will meet at 10 a.m. at 1st and Main Sts. for parade line up.

A cookout is planned at Darla Gore’s home in late afternoon.

Class of 2014

The class of 2014 will be celebrating its fifth anniversary.

Classmates will attend the football game and then hang out at Marion County Lake.

They will meet at The Building Center on Saturday morning for the parade lineup.
