MARION: JV football

A week after suffering its first loss of the season, the Marion High School junior varsity football team took out its revenge on Ellinwood Monday with a 36-0 victory.

Les Riggs scored on runs of 34 and 64, and Matt Sprowls threw and ran for a touchdown in the shutout victory.

After Sprowls and Riggs both scored on the ground in the first half, Dillon Richmond ended the scoring with a return of a block punt, and Marion led 22-0 at the half.

The Warriors went to the air in the second half, as Sprowls hooked up with Jordan Versch from 35 yards out.

Riggs’ long run ended the scoring.

The Warriors are now 5-1 on the season with games against Herington and Southeast of Saline left on the schedule.
