Marion Kiwanis hears about investment clubs
Marion Kiwanis last week reviewed Old Settlers Day results before hearing a program from Chris Mercer on investment clubs.
Mercer has been a member of an investment club for 20 years. His club began with 12 members, all of whom were jailers working together in Topeka. No more than 20 members are allowed, although as one member cashes out and leaves, another is allowed to join.
Each member pays an initiation fee of $100, then $50 a month for investments. The club portfolio is now worth $237,000.
