Marion Police Department: Traffic stops net arrests

Routine traffic stops resulted in the arrest of two drivers, one being charged with a DUI.

July 13: Officers worked on reports. A possible theft was investigated. An arrest warrant was served. A civil standby was provided. Criminal damage to property was reported.

July 14: A parking complaint was filed. Response was given to a dog running at-large. Criminal damage to property was reported. A 911 hang-up was checked. Officers worked on reports. A vehicle identification number inspection was provided. A dog bite was reported. Response was given to a possible anhydrous ammonia leak. A skunk complaint was checked. Several juveniles were stopped for violation of the city curfew.

July 15: A welfare check was provided. A theft was reported. VIN inspections were conducted. Officers worked on reports. An officer met with a concerned citizen. A 911 hang-up was checked.

July 16: Response was given to an alarm at Marion County Courthouse. A traffic stop was conducted which resulted in an arrest. A parking complaint was filed. Officers worked on reports. An officer met with a concerned citizen. A bicycle was reported stolen. A 911 hang-up was checked.

July 17: Traffic stops were made. Officers attended court hearings. Follow-up investigations were conducted. Radar was run on South Third Street. A nuisance violation complaint was filed. Assistance was provided to court services officers with home visits. A 911 hang-up was checked. A Marion County Sheriff’s deputy received assistance with a possible DUI.

July 18: A downed power line was reported. Complaints were made of dogs running at-large. A 911 hang-up was checked. VIN inspections were conducted. A stranded motorist received assistance. Assistance was provided to a sheriff’s deputy with a non-injury accident. Officers worked on reports.

July 19: Response was given to a dog running at-large. A theft was reported. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers received assistance with finding a person. Traffic stops were conducted. A noise complaint was filed. Officers worked on reports.

July 20: Officers worked on reports. VIN inspections were conducted. A 911 hang-up was checked. A civil stand-by was provided. Traffic stops were made.

July 21: Follow-up investigations were conducted. A theft was reported. Officers met with representatives of Kansas Attorney General’s office regarding cases. Response was given to a domestic disturbance. A parking complaint was filed. Traffic stops were made. Citations were issued for curfew violations.

July 22: A 911 hang-up was checked. A possible structure fire was checked; everything was OK. Assistance with a civil process was provided to a sheriff’s deputy. Follow-up investigations were conducted. A harassment complaint was filed. A theft was reported. Traffic stops were made with one stop resulting in an arrest. Officers worked on reports.

July 23: Follow-up investigations were conducted. Officers worked on reports. Response was given to a report of a child out-of-control. An officer met Marion County Attorney regarding cases. Officers responded to an injury accident at U.S.56/77/K-150. Response was given to a dog running at-large. VIN inspections were provided.

July 24: Vehicle maintenance was performed. Investigations were worked. An attempt was made to serve a civil process. A driving complaint was filed. VIN inspections were provided. Officers worked on reports. Response was given to a 911 hang-up.

July 25: A traffic complaint resulted in a DUI arrest. A follow-up investigation was conducted. An attempt was made to serve an arrest warrant. A harassment complaint was filed. VIN inspections were conducted. A transport was made.

July 26: Vehicle maintenance was performed. A report of a fraudulent check being passed was made. VIN inspections were provided. Officers worked on reports. Assistance was provided to the sheriff’s department with a disabled boat. A driving complaint was checked.

Officers issues 11 warnings, three notices to appear, and made four arrests.
