Senior Center has new head cook

Marion Senior Center correspondent

Marion Senior Center has a new head cook-in-training, Kathy West of Marion. Barb Bitner continues as assistant cook.

Six senior center patrons took a van June 5 to Abilene to the “Elvis at 21” photography exhibit at the Eisenhower Museum. They also went through the Eisenhower home and Russell Stover’s candy store. Making the trip were Delberta Brandt, Noreen Weems, Luba Brinkman, Marlene Anduss, Janet Bryant, and driver Shirley Moore.

Gerry Henderson sang on June 6 with piano accompaniment by Keith Allison. It was his first time performing at the center, but patrons hope not his last.

The center will have a program about Ethiopia Reads on Tuesday, presented by the young men involved in the projects. Patrons are asked to bring books to donate to the project.

Senior Center Day is June 20. There will be a program by Howard and Beth Collett after lunch about their trip to West Point, N.Y., to see their grandson graduate from the U.S. Military Academy.
