Larry Zieammermann and Charlie Nordquist gave a presentation July 3 on Ethiopia Reads. Local volunteers and donors gathered 4,000 children’s books to donate to Ethiopia. Their original goal was 1,001 books. Hap Waddell also was involved in the project. He is in Ethiopia with his mother.

Wilma Gilmer took homegrown peaches to Marion Senior Center last week. Some people ate the peaches at the center instead of waiting to take them home.

Patrons participated in a trivia contest July 2 with all of the questions having red, white, or blue in the answers.

Juanita Ediger, Robin Nelson, and Cathy Clyde made decorated placemats for the July 3 meal. Shirley Bowers played patriotic music on the piano, and facts about the Declaration of Independence were shared.

The center will host the North Central Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging board meeting Tuesday. The board will meet in Marion Community Center and eat lunch at the center.

Senior Center Day will be July 18. There will be a program after lunch.
