Marion Senior Center

Center has a new plant

Marion Senior Center correspondent

Marion Senior Center has a new plant in our entry, given to us by Ampride. Cuttings may be taken from a very large philodendron.

The commodities crew was very efficient on March 14. Clayton Hamm went to Council Grove to pick them up and was the first in line. Jerry Kline, Gene Winkler, Mark Brown, and Wanda Hamm helped unload. Shirley Moore and Sue Clough did most of the sacking. Virginia Hammond happened in and helped by pairing plastic bags.

Evelyn Jewett experienced two days of birthday treats, when friends from Lindsborg and McPherson came on March 15 with mini-cupcakes. St. Patrick’s Day was observed with trivia, and Connie Fisher led the center in singing “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.” On March 18, Evelyn provided ice cream cups for the center and a friendly leprechaun made cookies.

The center missed Barbie’s birthday on March 9, but heard about middle age versions we might see; Bifocals Barbie and Wrinkle Free Barbie included. On Senior Center Day, the center hosted piano students who were taught by Wanda Williams.

On April 3, there will be a program after lunch.
