Marion Senior Center correspondent

Volunteers were recognized April 24 at Marion Senior Center. The Department on Aging honored the newsletter crew and those who take people on out-of-town trips with the van. Others honored were meal delivery drivers, dining room volunteers, and daily reservation hostesses.

Those honored were Shirley Bowers, Shirley Moore, Sue Clough, Joyce Jackson, Kathy Goentzel, Jackie Hett, Elsie Reiswig, Robin Nelson, Rosalie Schmidtberger, Ron Wright, Connie Fisher, Ed and Neva Robinson, Dale Miller, and Lenora Graham;

Gary and Karen Chaput, Ed Riffel, Fred Puttroff, Dorothy Conyers, Jon and Suzanne Thole, Vern and Arlene Bowers, Wilma Gilmer, Reign and Marlene Anduss, Al and Gloria Ash, Don Freuchting, Wanda Hamm, Leo Yanda, Barbara and Larry Smith, Tom Duggan, Mary Ann Timm, Jane Makovec, Evelyn Jewett, Nora Richter, Norma Woerz, and Virginia Downing.

Jim Osborn ate at the senior center on April 19. He gave a farewell because he is moving to California.

Shirley Bowers brought in the first spring bouquet of flowers on April 18. Joyce Jackson, Sue Clough, Joan Meyer, Jean Pierce, and others read or recited poems. It was Poem in Your Pocket Day.

During another blast of winter April 23, Thelma Blosser rewarded everyone who ventured out with candy.

The Answers for Older Kansans workshop will be May 8.
