Grad decorations brighten center

Marion Senior Center correspondent

The dining room looks festive with hanging bright yellow and blue round fluffy decorations rescued from a graduation party hosted at the center by Shirley Bowers. She hung them from the ceiling fans.

Attendees spent a week answering history trivia. Some questions were difficult, but someone present always had a right answer.

Ann Boese brought a cake to share on her 90th birthday, May 18.

The Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs van was in the parking lot May 20 to provide information on benefits.

Roger Bitner brought homegrown rhubarb to give away. It was quickly taken.

Audiologist Haris Zafar presented a seminar May 22 on hearing.

He will be back on Friday to do hearing evaluations from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Call (620) 382-2942 to make an appointment.

The center hosted the Marion County Aging Coalition on May 22. Anna Lambertson of the Kansas Health Consumer Coalition spoke about KanCare.

Join us on June 5. The program will be given by Mary Lake of Lawrence. She is author of the book “Departings,” a novel about loss and redemption set in the 1920s.
