Knitters needed for baby project

Senior Center correspondent

Knitter interested in a project that provides purple caps for all newborns in Kansas may contact the senior center for more information on participating.

The color is designed to remind parents that it is all right for babies to cry, even if they turn purple, and that babies should not be shaken in an attempt to quiet them.

The senior center celebrated the birthdays of Darrell Weigart and Caleb Abbott this past week.

On June 14, Flag Day, center attendees recited the Pledge of Allegiance and thought ahead to Father’s Day with some trivia.

Cooperative Grain and Supply rented the center for a meeting the morning of June 18.

Shirley Bowers, Beulah Weigart, and Robin Nelson all brought flower recently.

Senior Center Day was June 19. Sue Clough conducted a business meeting. Joan Meyer told about interesting people and events from her travels to Europe.

The center will be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers outside and eating inside Saturday. Call to make a reservation.

On July 3, a representative of Harden Hospice will speak and bring dessert.

The center will be closed July 4.
