Senior center receives fresh produce

Marion Senior Center correspondent

Darvin Markley donated fresh cucumbers and squash to Marion Senior Center last week. The center also accepts egg cartons and grocery coupons.

Shirley Bowers took cuttings off a big plant in the center’s entryway and shared them as a display.

Vocalist Gerry Henderson, pianist Keith Allison, and guitarist Doug Kjellin, entertained patrons July 10.

Another musical program, by Ron and Connie Shipman, is scheduled for July 24.

The center will celebrate National Day of the Cowboy July 26, by inviting seniors to wear cowboy hats and boots to lunch.

Joyce Jackson was welcomed back after a five-week camping vacation.

The center will have its second cookout of the summer July 27.

Friday — Ham and beans, mixed vegetables, fruit, corn bread.

Monday — Barbecue pork sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, fruit.

Tuesday — Ham steak, sweet potatoes, broccoli/cauliflower, fruit, whole wheat rolls.

July 24 — Meatloaf, gravy, baked potato, strawberry shortcake, whole wheat rolls.

July 25 — Sauerkraut and wieners, mashed potatoes, fruit, garlic toast.
