MARION SENIOR CENTER: Volunteers resourcefulness tested

Senior Center correspondent

The resourcefulness of Marion Senior Center volunteers was tested when a food truck failed to arrive at its usual time on Oct. 1 and a different entrée needed to be prepared for patrons.

Barb Bitner took the initiative to rustle up some sausage patties from the depths of the center’s frigid freezer. Then she used her knife skills to swiftly slice and dice the sausage, which was served to patrons with pasta and tomatoes.

Sharon Simons, transition coordinator at Parkside Holmes in Hillsboro, gave a slideshow presentation on dental care.

The county health office will give flu shots at 1 p.m. Monday.

A Veterans Service representative will be at the center from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday.

Senior Center Day will be Oct. 15 with a program after lunch.
