Both Marion High School teams split doubleheaders on the diamond Tuesday in Marion.
The Marion High School softball team won its first game 13-12 with a seventh inning comeback.
The Warriors were down 8-2 to Hutchinson Trinity Academy after three innings. Senior pitcher Raelene Allen singled in sophomore outfielder Balee Shiplet in the fourth inning and Marion picked up 2 runs in the fifth inning.
Junior third baseman Annie Whitaker tied the game with a 3-run home run. Whitaker was 2-4 in the game, collecting 5 RBIs in the contest.
However, the Celtics charged back to reclaim the lead with a 4-run seventh inning.
But, the Warriors came back to score 5 runs in the seventh inning to win the game, 13-12.
The Warriors lost the second game, 11-5.
Shiplet was 2-4 with 2 singles. Andrea Norquist was 0-1 with 2 walks and 2 runs.
Baseball
Despite only recording 3 hits all day, the Marion High School baseball team won its second game against Little River, 7-5.
Sophomore Austin Pedersen pitched six strong innings, allowing 5 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 10. Junior David Helmer had a double and scored a run and freshman Taylor Heidebrecht had a single as the only two Warrior hits. Marion benefited from 7 walks, three walks to Helmer, freshman Grif Case, and sophomore Ethan Hett turned into runs in the third inning.
In the first game, Little River pitcher Skylar Hill pitched a complete game, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 14 batters. He did walk 5 Warriors, which allowed Marion to score its only run, a sacrifice RBI from Pedersen to score Heidebrecht.
