Marion teams sweep Bennington

Marion swept Bennington in conference play Tuesday.

The varsity baseball team won two away games. besting the Bulldogs, 16-2, in the oipener and 12-8 in the nightcap.

Team leaders include Caleb Darrow with a perfect on-base percentage, Trevor Schafers with a perfect fielding percentage, Seth Lanning with the highest batting average, and Jack Lanning with a perfect won-lost record,

The varsity softball team, meanwhile, blanked Bennington 18-0 in its opener. Results of the second game were not available.

In the opener, Jayden Mayscored three runs, and seven others scored two runs each. The team batted a torrid .500, led by perfect batting averages for Carley Wilhelm and winning pitcher Chisholm Waner.

The Warriors were active on the base paths, as well, with five stolen bases, including two by Macy Sigel.

The boys’ season record moved to 7-5 with a 2-4 record in league play.

Thursday, Sedgwick handed the Warrior boys two losses, winning 12-4 and 8-0 in conference road games.

The girls’ season has gone better, with the team posting a 10-1 record overall and a 7-0 record in conference play.

Thursday, the girls hammered Sterling, 19-1 and 15-0, in a home doubleheader.

No other scores for county teams were available Tuesday.
