Marion to get
2nd certified officer

The Marion police department has gained one officer, bringing the department up to four.

Sheriff’s deputy Peyton Heidebrecht is scheduled to begin duties with the department Nov. 6, interim Police Chief Zach Hudlin said

Hudlin and Heidebrecht will be the only officers fully trained and certified.

The department’s other two officers, Jonathon Benevidez and Bryant Edwards, have provisional certifications that allow them to perform police duties but have not attended a 14-week state police training program. They are scheduled to begin training in late January.

Heidebrecht spent six months as a deputy. Previous ly he was an officer for Hillsboro police department. His last shift for Hillsboro was July 9.
